EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 5, 2023) - Early on in the 2023 campaign, you might be hard pressed to find a driver that's had a better start than Tucker Pederson, as he has now collected features wins three and four on the year in the No. 27P Shawn Horn Crary Real Estate / North Dakota Eye Clinic WISSOTA Street Stock, scoring wins at his debut at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, SD and his first of the season at Minnesota's Greenbush Race Park. On Friday night, with Joey Pederson running the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors / Markit County Grain Rocket XR1 at River Cities Speedway with the NLRA Late Models, Tucker and crew made the nearly four hour trip south to Aberdeen, SD to take to the Brown County Speedway for the first time. Following a heat win from the outside of the front row, Tucker was slated to start seventh in the 20 lap main event. After rolling around the bottom for the first couple of laps, Tucker moved up top of a pair of three-wide battles, and survived some contact with Colton Fryer to move into the top five. Tucker then went three-wide in the middle of Jayden Bogh and Jodie Michaelsohn to move into third. Despite a tractor tire being hit and moved into the racing line, the race continued with Tucker moving past Ferlin Sheridan and Michael Bogh to take the lead, moving from seventh to first in just eight laps. It was smooth sailing from there, as Tucker cruised to his third win of the season. Meanwhile at River Cities, following a charge from seventh to second in his heat race, Joey Pederson was rolling off eighth for the 25 lap NLRA feature. Joey wasted no time moving forward, making three passes in the opening round to move into the top five. Joey remained in the top five for the duration of the race, and continued on to pass Mike Balcaen for fourth on lap seven. Joey kept the fourth spot following a caution just past the midway point, and rounded out the remaining laps in the fourth spot. It was Brother-Sister for the rest of the weekend, as Kelsi and Tucker were in action at Greenbush Race Park and Buffalo River Speedway. Both drivers continued the family tradition of charging through their heats at Greenbush as Kelsi charged from 5th to 2nd, and Tucker charged from 4th to a heat win. Tucker started fifth in the 15 lap feature, and for the second night in-a-row, he went three wide for third. This time it was on the opening lap, and he used the bottom to move to third. After a lap three caution, Tucker continued on to take the lead from Weston Ramsrud on the following lap. Tucker fended off the field on a pair of late restarts to win his fourth feature of the weekend. Kelsi started fifth in the No. 93 Olson Underground / Ad Monkeys Henchcraft in the POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint 20 lap feature. Remaining in fifth until a pair of cautions around the midway point, Kelsi lost a spot on each restart, and came home in seventh. The Pederson kids rounded out the weekend with more heat race charging. Each driver started fourth with Kelsi finishing 2nd and Tucker winning his heat. Kelsi's 20 lap Lightning Sprint feature was up first, and she started inside the second row. Kelsi held off Kate Taves early, and remained in the third spot for the rest of the race, which went green-to-checkers. Unfortunately, the weekend ended with Tucker as a DNF in the Street Stock Tour main event.
