EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (July 10, 2023) - For the second time this season, Kelsi and Tucker Pederson found victory lane on the same night as the duo won their features on Sunday night at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN. This is a repeat from earlier this season when both Pederson Racing drivers won on opening night at the track.
Tucker started the week for the Pederson family of racers at Wishek, ND's Tri-County Speedway on Thursday night, which became the seventh new track he's seen this season. Tucker finished second in his heat in his No. 27P Amy Dallum Photography / North Dakota Eye Clinic Kurshinsky, and climbed from sixth to third in the 20-lap main event. On Friday night, Tucker returned to River Cities Speedway with the Dirt Race Central Street Stock Tour in town, with Joey Pederson also in action in the No. 7P Shawn Horn Crary Real Estate / R&R Farms Rocket XR1. Tucker finished second in his heat race and started seventh in the 25-lap main event. Tucker moved up to sixth and challenged Hunter Carter on the inside to move into the top five through five trips around the 'Bullring'. Tucker remained within striking distance of a battle between Trey Hess and Justin Vogel for third following a restart with 12 laps left and remained fifth through the final restart with nine to go. Tucker remained fifth through the end of the race. Finishing second in his heat on Midseason championship night at the track, Joey rolled off on the outside of the second row in the 20-lap feature. Joey battled with Tyler Peterson on the opening lap, but following a lap two caution, Joey lapped around the bottom of the track while battling Shane Edginton and Brody Troftgruben for position. Joey moved to the top of the track late in the race, taking back fifth with four laps left, but ended the night with a sixth-place finish. On Saturday night, Tucker followed the Street Stock Tour north to Greenbush Race Park where he started the night with a heat win and went on to redraw the pole for the main event. Tucker took the lead at the start, lapping around the bottom of the track and building a straightaway advantage in the first five laps. Tucker started working lapped traffic around the midway point but was still holding a decent advantage over Justin Vogel while running the middle. Tucker cleared a final pair of lapped cars late in the race and continued on to victory as the race went green-to-checkered. Tucker completed his week on Sunday night at Buffalo River Speedway, scoring another heat win to start the night. Starting on the outside of the third row in the 20-lap feature, Tucker was sandwiched in a pair of three-wide battles at the start and was subsequently shuffled back in the field. Tucker rebounded, however, using the top to move up one position in each of the next three laps to move up to second. Lapping just behind Greg Jose for the lead at the halfway point, Tucker took the lead when Jose checked up in turn two with nine laps left. Tucker pulled away from there, scoring his third win of the year at the track, and tenth of the season. Kelsi wrapped up the week for the Pederson crew at Buffalo River in the No. 93 Olson Underground / Ad Monkeys Henchcraft, starting the night with a second place run in her heat race. Rolling off third in the 20-lap main event, Kelsi moved to the inside of Kate Taves to battle for second on the opening lap, taking the spot at the completion of the lap. Kelsi then began to reel in Bryce Haugeberg for the lead. Kelsi remained within striking distance as the lead duo reached lap traffic five laps into the 20 lapper, but didn't have much luck with lapped traffic, allowing Haugeberg to build a decent lead. While the lead duo got back into traffic with three to go, Haugeberg slipped up in turns two and then four, allowing Kelsi to challenge for the lead. She moved to his inside, taking the lead in turns one and two with two to go. Kelsi led the final two laps en route to her third win of the season. “Bryce is really fast, and I knew if he got out front, he'd be hard to catch,” Kelsi said in victory lane post-race. ” But I just tried to stay consistent. I thought I was just as fast as, if not just a little bit faster than him. So this time lap traffic played in our favor. There's been times it hasn't but yeah, this one worked out good.” Pederson Racing would like to thank all our sponsors: Shawn Horn - Crary Real Estate R&R Farms Amy Dallum Photography North Dakota Eye Clinic Olson Underground, inc.
