By Spieker Promotions EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (September 17, 2021) – Joey and Tucker’s seasons at River Cities Speedway came to a close last weekend during the running of the 15th annual John Seitz Memorial at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. The three day weekend kicked off last Thursday night with the ‘Prelude to the Johnny,’ which serves as the NLRA Late Model season finale. Tucker charged from seventh to fourth in his heat race, while Joey was unable to finish his heat, relegating him to a B Main. Between races, the boys had to make a quick trip back home to make repairs on the Shawn Horn Realtor No. 27P Streeter, but both made it back in time to continue their race nights. In the B Main, Joey started last in the 15th position, but charged to fifth by the end of the 12 lap event. Tucker started 11th in the 20 lap Street Stock feature, and climbed to as high as eighth late in the race, finishing ninth. Joey’s night ended early in the main event. Friday was qualifying night for Saturday’s Seitz Memorial features, and Tucker did well in his heat race, as he started and finished second. A poor draw kicked off a long road to the 92 lap Seitz Memorial feature for Joey, as he finished seventh in his 15 lap heat after starting in the tenth and final position. Joey started sixth in his B Main on Saturday evening, and slipped back to as low as seventh past the midway point in the 20 lapper. A late race charge saw Joey improve into a transfer spot, finishing third. Tucker started ninth in the 25 lap Street feature, but stormed into the top five in the first three circuits around the quarter-mile ‘Bullring.’ In the final ten laps, a four car battle for the $920 victory included Tucker, as he chased down the lead trio of Aaron Blacklance, Ryan Johnson, and Justin Vogel. Tucker was as high as second during the fight for the win, but ended the race in the fourth spot. Joey started deep in the field for the 92-lap, $9,200-to-win, John Seitz Memorial main event, but started to slice and dice his way through the field from the drop of the green. Joey was battling for thirteenth with Mike Balcaen and Cole Schill on lap six when contact between the trio brought out a caution. Joey continued on to the eleventh spot at the lap 32 fuel stop. The final 60 laps went green-to-checkered, with Joey finishing in the 14th spot. Kelsi will be the only member of the Pederson crew in action this weekend, as she’ll campaign her Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint at Devils Lake Speedway near Doyon, ND on Saturday night. The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
