East Grand Forks, Minn. (June 4, 2024) - Following two weeks since their most recent races of the season, Joey and Tucker Pederson returned to action last Friday night at River Cities Speedway, completing 50 laps each of feature action as the May 17th feature was also made-up to conclude the race program. With 36 cars signed in for action on Friday night, a top three finish in the heat race was the only way to avoid having to qualify through a B-Main and both drivers did just that. Joey finished second after starting third in the No 7P North Dakota Eye Clinic / Dahlstrom Motors Rocket XR1 while Tucker moved up from fifth to third in his No. 27P Levi Babcock Construction / Turf Pros MB Custom to go straight to the 25-lap main event. Joey started on the outside of the front row while Tucker started on the outside of row six. Joey remained second and Tucker climbed into the top five in the opening circuits of the race. A lap four restart saw Joey continue to hold a podium position as he tried to hold off Mike Greseth for fourth. Following a pair of lap seven yellow flags, Joey's new threat to take third became Tyler Peterson. Both Peterson and Greseth took third and fourth on lap eleven but Joey remained inside the top five for the remainder of the race, finishing fifth. Tucker just missed winning the Hart Luck award which is given to the 14th place finisher. Tucker finished 15th after getting passed by Kevin Robertson with two laps left. In the make-up feature, Tucker started fourth with Joey seventh, but early on in the race the pair went side-by-side for fourth early. Joey ran low with Tucker running up high, Joey moved into third at the end of the third lap. The race went flag-to-flag lasting just over five minutes with Joey finishing fourth and Tucker completing the race in sixth. Joey and Tucker were nose to tail with five to go but Brody Troftgruben went on a late run to take second while Lance Schill stole the final spot in the top five from Tucker on the final lap. On Saturday, Tucker returned to his roots piloting Josh Barker's No. 99 Street Stock at Devils Lake Speedway. For the second time in three features run over the weekend, the 20-lap street feature went green-to-checkered with Tucker finishing third. Braden Brauer caught family friend Trey Hess in the closing laps for the victory. This week sees more NLRA action ahead for the Pederson's at the NLRA co-headlines with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at the Bullring Friday night. Late Models will also be in the cards Saturday night in Devils Lake.
