EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 17, 2020) – It was another strong weekend for all three Joey Pederson Racing drivers. The action began on Friday night where Joey and Tucker were racing at their home track, River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, while Kelsi was at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo with the Minn-Kota / NLSA Lightning Sprints.
Kelsi began the weekend with a clean sweep on Friday night. The 2018 NLSA series champion raced from third to win her heat race, which put her on the inside of row two for the main event.
After a great battle with Alex Truscinski in the early going of the feature, Kelsi took the point and never looked back.
Kelsi led 14 of the 15 circuits around the high-banked three-eighths mile oval en route to her second win of the season. The win was her first at Red River Valley Speedway.
Meanwhile, both Joey and Tucker picked up podium finishes in their respective classes at River Cities Speedway. Tucker moved up one spot in the Street Stock feature to finish in third, while Joey, who also started fourth in his feature, moved up two positions to take the checkers in second.
On Saturday night, both Kelsi and Tucker were in action at Devils Lake Speedway. This time, Tucker was the one to visit victory lane as he picked up his first career win at the one-third mile oval.
Tucker ran door-to-door with Trey Hess for several laps in the closing stages of the feature. Using the extreme highside of the speedway, Tucker cleared Hess for the lead with two to go. The driver of the Olson Underground / Amy Dallum Photography No. 27P went on to take the win by just over 1.5 seconds to record his first win of the season and the fifth of his career.
Kelsi also had a strong night. Despite being called for a jumped start in her heat and having to restart from the tail of the field, Kelsi charged her way back to the front and picked up the heat win. She then came from the seventh starting position to take the checkers in second.
This weekend will be a big one for Tucker as the Steffes Street Stock Tour rolls into River Cities Speedway on Friday night, featuring a $700-to-win payout, and Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday. Joey will also be in action on Friday night at River Cities. Kelsi’s lone event of the weekend will come on Saturday at Devils Lake as well.
The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
