Kelsi Pederson opens 2018 with NLSA win at Buffalo River!

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (May 15, 2018) – It was a big weekend for the Joey Pederson Racing team as all three drivers, Joey, Kelsi and Tucker, opened their 2018 seasons. 

​Kelsi picked up the team’s first win at Buffalo River Race Park’s season opener Sunday evening in Glyndon. After driving from ninth to second in her heat, Kelsi led the field of NLSA Lightning Sprints to the green flag for their 20-lap main event. 

Kelsi quickly assumed the lead on the opening lap over fellow front row starter, Alex Truscinski. Once out front, Kelsi never looked back. The driver of the First Community Credit Union No. 93 checked out from the field in the early going and cruised to a dominating feature win. 

Kelsi’s margin of victory was just over two-and-a-half seconds at the checkers. 

On Friday, Joey and Tucker were in action at River Cities Speedway. Joey had about as rough as a night as one could imagine for the first race of the season. Five laps into his WISSOTA Late Model heat race, Joey’s powerplant erupted going into turns three and four, ending his night early. 

Tucker on the other hand, enjoyed a solid night behind the wheel of his No. 27 WISSOTA Street Stock. Tucker advanced from fifth to fourth in his heat race, putting him 10th on the grid for the 15-lap, 25-car feature. 

After falling back to 13th early on, Tucker had to battle back throughout the remainder of the event. With five to go, Tucker cracked the top 10, but he wasn’t done there. The sophomore Street Stock driver rallied past two more cars in the final laps to secure the eighth position at the checkers. 

Tucker will be back in action this Friday at River Cities Speedway. It will be close whether or not Joey will make it back out with the Late Model. The crew is working hard to get the motor running again in time for Friday.

Kelsi will be looking to go back to back at Buffalo River on Sunday.
