Joey Pederson set for River Cities Speedway doubleheader

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (July 8, 2021) – After some tough luck last Friday night, Joey Pederson returns to River Cities Speedway this weekend for a pair of shows as a part of the Wayne Anderson Cup.

The action kicks off tonight, featuring the NLRA Late Models. Friday’s program will be a weekly WISSOTA Late Model event at the Bullring. 

Coming into tonight, Joey is fifth in the River Cities Speedway Late Model track standings, 82 points out of the lead. 

River Cities Speedway last hosted the NLRA Late Models on September 10th of last season during the Prelude to the Johnny. With 50 cars in attendance, Joey scored a sixth place finish. 

Joey’s feature race ended on lap seven last Friday night. He started eighth and was running seventh when a car spun in front of him in turn one. Nearly the entire field, including Joey, was running the low side of the speedway, leaving him nowhere to go to avoid the wreck. 

Heavy contact to the right front of the Shawn Horn Realtor / Dahlstrom Motors No. 7P forced Joey to leave the speedway on the back of the wrecker. He was credited with 19th. 

Tucker had a solid night on Friday with the Steffes Street Stock Tour in town. He drove from 21st to 15th in the feature, but suffered a transmission failure during the night. He will be back at River Cities tonight and Friday if the crew can get the new transmission in time. 

The Greenbush Race Park hosted the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints on Saturday night. Kelsi began her night by picking up a heat race win. Unfortunately, rain washed out the evening before the Lightning Sprint feature was run. 

Kelsi will be back at Greenbush on Saturday night. Tucker tentatively will be as well.
