Joey Pederson scores top five at Late Model opener at River Cities

EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (June 10, 2020) - River Cities Speedway finally played host to the WISSOTA Late Models this past weekend for the first time in 2020. Joey Pederson made his debut for the year and found speed right from the get-go. Kelsi and Tucker both competed during the weekend as well, finding themselves in the top 10 each night.

Joey started his night finishing third in his heat race. He lined up on the pole for the feature, but encountered mechanical issues shortly after the green flag dropped.“I struggled with some brake issues in the feature, but I made it work, just rode it out,” he said.

Regardless of the issues, it was clear that Joey was happy to be back behind the wheel racing once again. “It felt great to get back and be out there and return to some normalcy.”

Tucker raced both Friday and Saturday night at River Cities Speedway and Devils Lake Speedway, respectively. Tucker started the night moving up one spot to finish second in his heat. He lined up second on the starting grid for the feature, with a lot of veterans lined up behind his bumper. Tucker took home a sixth-place finish.

Tucker seems to have figured something out at Devils Lake Speedway. After starting second in the feature, he led five laps and came home with a solid third-place finish.

Kelsi started her night off at Devils Lake picking up her heat race win. Starting seventh in the feature, she quickly moved her way through the field. She crossed the finish line in third, picking up her fourth top five in just as many starts.

This coming weekend, each driver in the Pederson Racing stable will be running two nights. Joey and Tucker will be returning to River Cities Speedway on Friday and Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday.

Kelsi will be running with the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota/NLSA Lightning Sprints at Red River Valley Speedway on Friday night and will return to Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday.
