Joey chases a championship; Tucker wins again​

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (September 1, 2022) – A big Labor Day weekend awaits the entire Joey Pederson Racing team. Joey and Tucker will be racing tomorrow night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks for Track Championship night before all three Pederson Racing drivers will head to Greenbush Race Park for a Saturday-Sunday doubleheader. ​

On the line Friday night is a Late Model track championship for Joey. He trails longtime friendly rival Brad Seng by just a single point entering tomorrow’s action. That sets up a situation where Joey just has to finish one position ahead of Seng in the feature to win the champion. 

With the feature being lined up by points, the two will share the front row for the 20-lapper. 

Just in the last three weeks alone, Joey has gained 22 points on Seng, capped off by a big gain last Friday night where Joey finished second and Seng finishing eighth.

Joey has four career Late Model track championships at his home track, but hasn’t captured the title since 2013. 

With the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars in town last Friday, the Street Stocks were off at River Cities Speedway, meaning Tucker had just one race on the schedule at Greenbush - and he made the most of it. 

Tucker charged from seventh to win his ninth feature of the season and third at Greenbush. 

Tucker slowly worked his way forward, becoming a contender on lap 8. On lap 10, he placed a bid for the lead on Daniel Aberle and took the point. He would go on to lead the remaining 15 laps to score the win. 

Kelsi also had a strong run at Greenbush, racing from sixth to second in the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint feature. Kelsi moved into second with four laps to go and brought the gap between herself and leader Dexter Dvergsten from 1.1 seconds down to a close three-tenths of a second at the checkers.
