East Grand Forks, Minn. (June 18, 2024) - In just his seventh start in a Late Model, Tucker Pederson won his first career Late Model feature last Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway near Crary, ND. A popular win for the Devils Lake crowd, Tucker led all twenty laps to win the second feature for Pederson Racing so far in 2024. Just one race was on the schedule for Pederson Racing last weekend and it was Joey and Tucker hauling west to run at Devils Lake Speedway in the final tune-up race before this weekend's Golden Hammer Classic which Joey heads into as the defending champion. Joey and Tucker drew the front row in their heat race as the pair remained glued at the hip in heat races in the past couple of weeks. After a spirited battle early, Tucker went on to win while Joey had mechanical issues late which were repaired in time for him to also make the feature. Tucker started on the outside of the front row with Joey starting outside the sixth row. Tucker took the lead from pole starter Rusty Kollman and started to build an early lead. At the midway point, Jason Strand was beginning to eat into Tucker's lead as Tucker approached the rear of the field. Tucker, who ran the top for most of the race, had to abandon the top line with nine to go to try and lap a pair of cars. Coming off the fourth turn the following lap, Tucker lapped both cars, putting them between himself and Strand with seven to go. Strand again was beginning to close, but Tucker won the green-to-checkered affair by two-and-a-half seconds, his first Late Model win in his seventh start in a race that lasted just over six minutes. Joey battled back from 12th to finish eighth. Tucker's win was the second for Pederson Racing in 2024 following Sister Kelsi's Lightning Sprint win at Buffalo River Speedway the week prior. Tucker was joined by numerous family members and friends in victory lane in an emotional ceremony as he joined Kelsi and Trey Hess as drivers to pick up wins for 'Mama P' this season. Joey and Tucker will return to Devils Lake Speedway for the 6th Annual, 40-lap, $5,000-to-win Golden Hammer Classic on Saturday night, which Joey heads into as the defending champion.
