EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (July 5, 2023) - With another month of the season completed, Tucker has gained two more spots in the season long WISSOTA National Championship hunt as he now sits in second at the midway point of the 2023 campaign following his eighth win of the season last Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Tucker's week started with another trip to Lisbon, ND and another night with the Dirt Race Central Street Stock Tour at Sheyenne Speedway. Following a charge from seventh to third in his heat race, Tucker rolled off on the inside of the third row in the 25 lap main event. Tucker remained just outside of the top five through the only pair of cautions with three and seven laps completed respectively. Tucker ran low, going door-to-door with Jaden Christ late, picking up the sixth spot with four laps left, and holding the spot through the end of the race. The following night, Tucker returned to River Cities as the Street Stocks were one of the support classes for the annual visit by the World of Outlaws Late Model series. Tucker charged from sixth to win his heat race and was slated to roll off sixth in the 20 lap feature. Moving up a row due to another car that was unable to start the race, Tucker roared around the cushion going three wide with veterans Terry Blacklance and John Halvorson to lead the opening lap. Tucker held off Halvorson following a caution with nine laps left, even as the left front suspension started to fail on Tucker's machine with six to go. Tucker nursed his injured mount to his third win in-a-row at the 'Bullring'. "It was really cool to be able to run the cushion like that," Tucker said in victory lane post race. "That's something we never see. But, heck, that left front... I thought that was my brake pad sparking a little bit ‘cause I was checking up pretty hard. After that, the car really became a handful, so I don't know what was going on, but it looks like we busted another ball joint, so just more fixing in the shop." Following those repairs, Tucker headed back to Greenbush Race Park on Saturday night, where he kicked off the night with a heat win. Starting eighth in the 15 lap finale, Tucker again made progress running the cushion until a lap six caution. Stuck on the bottom of the double file restart, Tucker went three wide in between Josh Barker and John Current to move into the fourth. Tucker moved back to the top and made another pass late to finish third. Tucker's week ended at the annual fourth of July special at Jamestown Speedway. Tucker charged from seventh twice. First to finish third in his heat race, then moving into the top five at the midway point to finish fifth in the feature. Joey was the only other member of the family to turn laps, where he finished just shy of making the feature twice, finishing sixth in his heat, then fifth in his Last Chance Showdown. The schedule for this week sees returns to familiar surroundings, with races at River Cities, Greenbush, and Buffalo River, and a stop to Tri-County Speedway in Wishek, N.D. on Thursday.
