East Grand Forks, Minn. (July 15, 2024) - Seven feature races were contested last week for Pederson Racing which was capped off by a second-place run for Tucker on Sunday night at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN. Kelsi kicked off the week for the Pederson Crew charging from sixth to third in her heat race. Her feature was first on Friday night where she started on the outside of the fourth row. Kelsi ran seventh until the first caution flag one lap past the midway point of the 20-lap event. On the restart, it was Kelsi with the perfect diamond off the corner to move into sixth. From there she snuck to the inside of both Kate and Matthew Taves eventually winning that three-car battle to move up to fourth. At that point the top four were evenly separated as the remaining laps disappeared from the scoreboard. Kelsi finished the night with a fourth-place finish. Up next were Joey and Tucker who started fifth and 15th respectively in the Late Model Mid-Season Championship feature. Joey remained fourth on the opening lap though he was three-wide briefly with Tom Corcoran and Shane Edginton. A caution on lap nine saw Joey improve to fourth for one circuit as he battled Ryan Corbett for position. Joey went door-to-door with Mike Greseth on the final restart with eight to go but remained fifth until the checkers flew. Tucker finished 12th. Joey and Tucker header west Saturday for the 6th Annual Golden Hammer Classic at Devils Lake Speedway. Tucker entered the night as the most recent winner at the track having won the feature on June 15th. Joey entered the event as the defending champion, winning the $5,000 payday last August. Both ended up on the frontstretch for the redraw as Tucker won his heat and Joey stormed from seventh to second. Joey drew the outside of the front row with Tucker scheduled to roll off seventh. Tucker was unable to start, however, as electric issues sent him to the pits before the drop of the green. When the race got underway, Joey led the opening lap over Tyler Peterson, who finished second in last year's classic. Joey led the first eight laps until Peterson took the point on lap nine. Joey slid back to as far as tenth late in the 40-lap race but got a few spots back to finish eighth. With Tucker's car repaired, the Pederson boys concluded the weekend of racing at Buffalo River Speedway on Sunday evening where they finished fourth and second respectively in their heat races. Joey started 12th while Tucker started sixth in the 25-lap main event. Tucker ran fifth after the opening circuit but ran sixth until a pass on Josh Rieck on lap 6 put him inside the top five for the remainder of the race. Tucker got a great restart on lap eight, passing Cole Schill and Nathan Higginbotham on the high side to take third. Joey was also on the move using the outside to move into the top ten. On the final restart with nine to go, Tucker executed a perfect slide job on Kevin Robertson, lessons no doubt learned racing at the track weekly last year, to take the runner-up spot. Tucker was reeling-in Tyler Peterson late but finished second with Joey finishing seventh.
