EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 13, 2023) - It was a series of ups and downs for the Pederson Racing crew last weekend, though Joey and Kelsi were each able to chalk up top five finishes in their lone races of the weekend. But it was Tucker who suffered the lows as he continued his campaign for a WISSOTA National Street Stock championship, as he saw three second place runs disappear due to mechanical woes.
Following an appearance at Sheyenne Speedway in Lisbon, ND where Tucker had a sixth place run go by the wayside just past the midway point of the race, Tucker returned home to join father, Joey, for a regular night of action at River Cities Speedway. Tucker finished third in his heat race, while Joey won his heat race in the No. 7P North Dakota Eye Clinic / Channel Seed Rocket XR1. Tucker started on the outside of the front row in his No. 27P Amy Dallum Photography / Olson Underground Wissota Street Stock, and was challenging for the lead on the opening lap when a ball joint broke, ending his night early. Joey rolled off for the 20 lap Late Model feature on the outside of row three, making passes on each of the opening three trips around the 'Bullring' to move into a podium position. Following a caution just before the midway point, Pederson continued to battle Mike Greseth and Tyler Peterson for position between second through fourth. Joey crossed under the checkers in fourth place. On Saturday night, it was another night out for the Brother-Sister duo, as Kelsi and Tucker headed west to Devils Lake Speedway. They each won their heat races from deep in the field, with Kelsi winning from fifth and Tucker from sixth. In Kelsi's 20 lap POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints feature, she started from the fourth spot in the No. 93 R&R Farms / Bad Boy Mowers Henchcraft. Running a solid second for the majority of the race, Kelsi was forced into a three-wide battle on a restart with seven to go, where she raced in the middle of Weston Olson and Travis Surerus. With four laps left, Surerus' steering broke, leaving Kelsi with nowhere to go. The contact did cause damage that eventually ended her weekend, but Kelsi was able to run with Olson and Dylan Langevin in another three-wide restart to finish third. Tucker also started fourth in his 20 lap main event, and was running a close second to leader Seth Klostreich when he had more mechanical woes during a caution with nine laps to go. Tucker headed south to debut at a track for the fifth time this season, as he traveled to Granite City Motor Park in Sauk Rapids, MN. Tucker went on another charge in his heat race, climbing from seventh to fourth. Redrawing the seventh starting spot, Tucker raced into the top five on lap six, and went on to take the second spot with five circuits remaining when his night ended early again due to a mechanical failure. Next up, all three Pedersons will be in action at their home track, River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, on Friday as the speedway hosts Street Stocks, Late Models and Lightning Sprints.
