Pederson scores NLRA runner-up at River Cities

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 12, 2019) – Joey Pederson made his third trip of the season to River Cities Speedway on Friday night with the NLRA Late Models. Following a heat race win, Pederson started on the pole for the 25-lap feature.

At the drop of the green flag, third-place starter, Donny Schatz, jumped out to the lead, but Pederson ran a close second. As the two veteran drivers distanced themselves from the rest of the pack, Pederson stayed right behind Schatz.

As Schatz encountered lapped traffic, Pederson looked to close in. Pederson got to within a car length of the 10-time and defending World of Outlaws champion, but couldn’t quite complete the pass.

Pederson was forced to settle for a strong second-place finish.

Kelsi Pederson made her first visit to Sheyenne Speedway behind the wheel of her No. 93 NLSA Lightning Sprint. The defending series champion drove from fifth to third in both her heat and the feature.

Tucker had the weekend off from Street Stock action.
