East Grand Forks, Minn. (July 8, 2024) - Seven Late Model races and a Lightning Sprint feature are now in the books for Pederson Racing as the calendar has flipped to the month of July. Joey and Tucker were in action Tuesday night at River Cities Speedway and on Friday night and Sunday afternoon as the pair made their debuts at Dead Horse Creek Speedway in Morden, MB, Canada. This busy stretch was kicked off on Saturday June 29th as Kelsi made the trip to the season opener at Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN. Kelsi started sixth in the No. 93 North Dakota Eye Clinic / R&R Farms Henchcraft but was already running inside the top three at the completion of the opening lap. Following a caution on lap nine and a flip by Dexter Dvergsten on lap 11, Kelsi was the new second place runner as the second half of the race got underway. Kelsi had to hold off Kate Taves and Dylan Langevin to hold on to the second spot but pulled away late to finish as the runner-up. On Sunday night, Joey was in competition with the World of Outlaws Late Models at River Cities where he finished a couple spots short of transferring to the main event. Tucker, fresh off a recent vacation, joined Joey at River Cities for the Independence Day special Tuesday at River Cities. The pair again drew to be in the same heat race where Tucker finished second in the No. 27P Levi Babcock Construction / InVision Ag MB Custom and Joey finished fourth in the Dahlstrom Motors / Channel Seed Rocket XR1. The two battled door-to-door during the 21-lap main event, which was one lap longer than normal in honor of Nick Minske. Joey finished 11th with Tucker finishing 14th. Tucker won the Hart Luck Award worth $100 in honor of Bruce Hart. To complete the busy stretch of racing, Joey and Tucker headed to Dead Horse Creek Speedway in Morden, MB to take part in the GVE Deere Run. The duo again ran in the same head where Joey and Tucker finished third and fourth respectively. In the short 15-lap main event, Joey and Tucker scored their best finishes of this stretch with Joey getting a third-place result and Tucker just behind him in fourth. Saturday's race was postponed to Sunday afternoon where Joey and Tucker were again in the same heat and again finished third and fourth. They started together in the second row with Tucker inside and Joey outside. Both struggled a bit in the feature as the rain from the previous night made the track surface tricky. Tucker had the better night, falling back to as low as tenth in the final ten laps but rebounded for a sixth-place finish with Joey a few spots back in ninth. All three Pederson racers will be at River Cities on Friday night before Joey and Tucker head to Devils Lake Speedway for the Golden Hammer Classic which was rescheduled following a rainout a few weeks ago. Tucker heads into the weekend as the most recent Late Model at Devils Lake, having won his first feature in the class on June 15th. Joey heads into the Classic as the defending champion as he won last year's rain rescheduled event.
