East Grand Forks, Minn. (July 30, 2024) - The second half of the 2024 season is in full swing with seven more features completed for Pederson Racing last week culminating in a top fives for Joey Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway and for Kelsi Sunday night at Buffalo River Speedway. The week of racing started Thursday night at Victory Lane Speedway in Winnipeg as the NLRA made their return to the track for the first time since 2024. Tucker started 12th in the No. 27P North Dakota Eye Clinic / Amy Dallum Photography MB Custom and Joey started 14th in the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors / Channel Seed Rocket XR1.
It took Tucker just one lap to move his way into the top ten, however, moving up four spots on the opening circuit at the four-tenths mile oval. On lap five, Tucker moved to the inside of Ryan Corbett to pick up another spot, improving to the ninth position. Tucker remained ninth until the first caution on lap ten. On the ensuing restart, Tucker and Joey both avoided a disaster as a pile-up and turn one erased the first attempt to get the race back underway. Joey spun and remained on track avoiding contact while Tucker spun off of the top of turn one but also avoided contact. Both re-fired and took their positions back. Tucker moved up to eighth on the restart and with five to go, Tucker was about one of the only cars in the field to run the middle or the top which helped him reel in Brad Seng and Kevin Sexton. Tucker passed both Seng and Sexton in the closing laps to finish sixth and won the Speedwerx hard charger award. Joey finished in the 14th position. Joey started fourth on Friday night at River Cities with Tucker starting tenth in the second 25-lap feature of the weekend. The opening laps saw Joey go side-by-side with Jason Strand in a battle for the fourth spot. Joey was then challenged by Dustin Strand for fifth before a caution on lap six. Joey lined up beside Cole Babcock on the following double file restart. Babcock eventually won the battle with Joey around the midway point. In the closing laps, Joey went on to battle with Brody Troftgruben, holding on to that position, and finishing seventh with Tucker finishing 11th. The final 25-lap main event of the weekend on Saturday night at Devils Lake saw Tucker start sixth with Joey starting eighth. Joey and Tucker went three-wide with Tyler Peterson on the opening lap as Joey and Tucker ran around the top of the speedway early on in the race. Joey went on to battle Cole Babcock and Tyler Peterson as Tucker battled Tyler Peterson and Shane Edginton as every spot from the fourth through eighth positions were up for grabs. Joey and Babcock remained door-to-door for fourth on lap six when Tucker passed Edginton and then moved to the inside of Tyler Peterson to battle for the sixth spot. Joey passed Babcock for fourth on lap eight while Tucker continued to stalk Peterson for 6th. Joey and Tucker remained fourth and seventh respectively at the midway point as Babcock and Tyler Peterson battled for position between them. Joey remained pretty much by himself on the laps following the midway point as Babcock and Tucker went side-by-side for sixth. Tucker and Cole remained door-to-door in the closing laps as Tyler Peterson closed in on Joey. Joey went on to finish fifth with Cole Babcock sixth and Tucker seventh in a race that lasted just six and a half minutes and went green-to-checkered. Kelsi wrapped up the weekend for Pederson racing, running the No. 93 Levi Babcock Construction / Bad Boy Mowers Henchcraft Lightning Sprint at ‘Paint the Track Pink night’ at Buffalo River Speedway. Kelsi started fifth in the 20-lap main event. An eventful opening lap saw Kelsi lose two spots on the Initial start but get them both back before the end of the circuit. Kelsi continued to fight Matt Taves in an attempt to keep her spot inside the top five. Both Kelsi and Taves tracked down Loki Bjerke with both drivers making passes and Kelsi moving back into the top five at the midway point. Kelsi remained inside the top five throughout the second half of the race and finished fifth in another caution free feature.
