Kelsi Wins Second Feature of the Year at Buffalo River

East Grand Forks, Minn. (August 19, 2024) - Just one race was on the docket for Pederson Racing last weekend and it ended with another trip to victory lane as Kelsi Pederson won her second feature of the season Sunday night at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN.

Kelsi finished third in her heat race and started on the outside of the second row in the 20-lap main event. Kelsi used the outside of the quarter-mile to take third at the end of the opening lap and then moved into second using the same high line at the completion of lap two.

Kelsi went side-by-side with Brady Heilman for the first time on lap four and executed a perfect slider to make her third turn four pass of the race to take the lead on lap five.

Following the first caution of the race on lap six, Kelsi went on to hold the lead after holding off Matt Taves in turns one and two once the green flag waved again.

Kelsi remained between five and ten car lengths ahead of Taves through the midway point and held the lead through some light traffic until the final pair of cautions with six to go.

Tasked with holding off both Matt and Kate Taves on the final restart, Kelsi protected the bottom on the restart and continued on for the victory over the Taves duo.

“The track was really technical. I like to see racetracks like that,” Kelsi said in victory lane post-race. “I'm glad they could get it into shape with all the rain we got this week, so hats off to the track for that one.”

The Pederson boys will be back in action Friday night at River Cities as the Late Models will run as the support class as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series makes its second and final visit of 2024 to the Bullring.
