By Spieker Promotions EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (September 19, 2018) – The 2018 season came to a close Friday night for Kelsi Pederson at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks with the Northern Lightning Sprint Association. Entering the night, Pederson held a slim nine point lead over Alan Truscinski. ![]() Pederson began the night by charging from dead last in her heat race to take the win. The driver of the No. 93 Lightning Sprint took the lead on lap three and went on to take the win by over three seconds. Pederson then started on the pole for the 15-lap feature and led the majority of the race. Coming to the white flag, Truscinski snuck around the outside of Pederson to take the lead. On the final lap, Zak Kwiatkoski also snuck by Pederson, relegating her back to third. Still, Pederson had enough of a gap to claim the 2018 NLSA series title. “I’ve been fortunate enough to start up front here a lot of the time. Tonight, Alan earned it. I was getting looser and looser and started to overdrive the car. That’s just how racing goes sometimes, but it was a lot of fun,” said Pederson in victory lane after being crowned the NLSA champion. In four events at River Cities Speedway this season, Pederson recorded one win, three top fives and four top tens. Both Joey and Tucker had the weekend off. 2018 Stats: Joey Pederson: Races: 19 Wins: 3 Top Fives: 11 Top Tens: 12 Kelsi Pederson: Races: 30 Wins: 3 Top Fives: 24 Top Tens: 26 Tucker Pederson Races: 26 Wins: 0 Top Fives: 11 Top Tens: 18
