East Grand Forks, Minn. (August 6, 2024) - A rare light schedule saw Pederson racing take to the track just once last week as Joey and Tucker raced their Late Models during Hall of Fame night at the Grand Forks Bullring where Joey finished the night with a top five finish. Joey and Tucker were in the same heat race Friday night at River Cities with Joey on the pole and Tucker starting fourth. Tucker rebounded from an early caution to race back to fifth while Joey won the race.
Joey started fifth with Tucker in ninth to start the 20-lap main event. Joey and Tucker both worked the bottom on the first lap as Joey battled to the inside of Ryan Kereluk and John Seng in a three-wide battle that was erased by a caution flag on the second lap. Both Joey and Tucker moved to the top side on the restart which saw Joey go three-wide with Ryan Kereluk and Dustin Strand on the third lap. Joey continued to fight with Kereluk and Jason Strand as he tried to keep a top five spot as Tucker, who was still in the top ten spot, brought out the second caution on lap four. Tucker tagged the back of the field as Joey lined up to the outside of Dustin Strand on the restart with the pair remaining door-to-door for most of the lap. Joey ran fourth at the end of the circuit but nearly went three-wide with Strand and John Seng on the backstretch. Joey had to check up and fell back to Fifth. The trio again went three-wide on lap seven which saw Joey take fourth from Seng as the leaders made another trip by the flag stand. Joey continued to lap well around the top of the racetrack after the midway point which saw him as the only driver inside the top five to run the top as he held off Ryan Kereluk to hold the fourth spot. Their battle continued for the duration of the race with Joey finishing with a fifth-place finish. Tucker climbed back to 12th after the early caution. Tucker and Joey will return to River Cities on Friday and will be joined by Kelsi who will run the final three nights of the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Nationals which continues Saturday at Devils Lake and Sunday at Buffalo River.
