East Grand Forks, Minn. (Sept. 3, 2024) - After making repairs following a rollover the previous Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, Joey Pederson returned to the Bullring last Friday night and finished as the runner-up for the second time in three weeks at the track. Joey and Tucker finished off their regular seasons Friday night at River Cities with second place runs in their heat races. Joey started fourth and Tucker started fifth in the 20-lap main event. Joey ran third at the end of the opening lap while Tucker was in a four-car battle for the final spots inside the top five. Following a lap seven caution, Joey moved into the runner-up spot behind Brad Seng as Tucker continued to hold on to one of the final spots just outside the top five. At the midway point, Joey remained the runner-up as the lead duo worked through lapped traffic. The final 14 laps went caution free with Joey finishing as the runner-up and Tucker coming home with an eighth-place run. Joey and Tucker kicked off Labor Day Weekend starting in the last row in their heats at Greenbush Race Park and started 16th and 14th respectively. Joey made a charge through the field following a lap 14 caution, passing three cars to make his first appearance in the top ten as the race resumed. Joey made the top of the quarter-mile work to his advantage as he passed Ryan Kereluk with two to go and Brandon Corbett on the final lap to finish fifth, an eleven position charge through the field. Tucker finished the race in 13th. On Sunday at Greenbush, Joey and Tucker finished fourth and second in their heats giving Tucker a front row starting spot and Joey the 16th starting spot for the second night in a row. Joey's attempt for another charge through the field got off to a rough start when he slid off turn four on the fourth lap and had to restart at the tail. Tucker restarted second on the restart and was nearly four-wide with Shane Edginton, Ryan Kereluk, and Brody Troftgruben as the trio fought for position in the top five. A lap ten caution cost Tucker three spots as he fell to ninth after going three wide with John Seng and Cody Lee. In the second half of the race, Tucker got two of those spots back, holding on to seventh following the final restart with four to go to finish seventh. Joey was in a dogfight with Brandon Corbett, Shane Holden, Rusty Kollman, and Brad Seng as he tried to finish with a top ten after restarting 27th on lap four. Joey came up just short of a top ten but passed 15 cars in 21 laps to finish 12th. With the 25 laps from Saturday and the final 21 on Sunday paired together, Joey statistically finished as a +20 but passed 31 cars to do it. Kelsi was also in action on both nights in Greenbush with the NLSA Lightning Sprints. Kelsi finished second in her heat and started third in the feature on Saturday night. She went three-wide with Kate & Matt Taves at the start. When the race went green again following a caution on the initial start, Kelsi and Kate Taves made contact on the front stretch which sent Kelsi into a spin. Kelsi kept her third place starting spot but fell back to seventh in the first three laps. Kelsi regained the seventh spot in the closing laps and finished seventh. Kelsi started eighth on Sunday night at Greenbush and fought with Alan Truscinski and Matt Taves for the final spots in the top ten through a pair of lap four cautions and a red flag. The final sixteen laps went caution free with Kelsi grabbing a couple spots back in the second half of the race to finish eighth, her 11th top ten in 14 nights so far this season. This week, Joey and Tucker will be back at River Cities for the final time this season as they will be part of the Howie Schill Memorial on Thursday and the John Seitz Memorial on Friday and Saturday.
