EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (July 25, 2023) - As the pursuit of the WISSOTA National Championship continues, Tucker Pederson won his 15th feature of the 2023 campaign last Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway, while Joey and Kelsi scored top fives of their own with Joey's fourth place run with the Northern Late Model Racing Association at River Cities Speedway on Friday night and Kelsi's runner-up spot in her return to action at Buffalo River Speedway Sunday evening. Tucker was again the busiest of the family of racers, taking the No. 27P Amy Dallum Photography / North Dakota Eye Clinic Kurshinsky WISSOTA Street Stock to the races five consecutive nights. Tucker's week started at a Wednesday night special at Buffalo River Speedway. For just the eighth time this season, Tucker had the opportunity to go head-to-head with his fellow title contender Braden Brauer. Tucker finished second in his heat, and was scheduled to start seventh in the 20 lap main event. Moving up a row before the green flag dropped, Tucker started on Brauer's bumper at the start of the race. Tucker and Brauer went door-to-door for the third spot each of the first five trips around the quarter-mile oval. A caution with seven to go saw former leader Cole Greseth spin. Brauer assumed the lead with Tucker now third. Tucker took second as the race resumed, and re-entered in a side-by-side battle with Brauer for the lead. Tucker pulled even a few more times in the closing laps, but finished the race in second. Following a sixth place run during his fourth appearance at Wishek, ND's Tri-County Speedway on Thursday night, Tucker made his second appearance at South Dakota's Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, where Tucker won in his track debut on June 2nd. Tucker's night didn't start well with a sixth place run in the heat race, setting up an 18th place start in his third 20 lapper of the week. Tucker kept his nose clean early, avoiding being caught up in a trio of cautions in the first half of the race. Climbing into the top ten on lap nine, Tucker went on to move into the top five following Royce Jawaski and Jayden Bogh bringing out the final caution with three to go. Tucker moved up two more spots in the closing laps in his charge from 18th to third. As this went on in Aberdeen, Joey was running the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors / Markit County Grain Rocket XR1 with the NLRA at River Cities Speedway. Joey finished third in his heat, and rolled off ninth in the 25 lap feature. Joey avoided disaster when he checked up in turn two when the car he was running behind got loose in front of him, touching off a pileup behind them. Re-aligning seventh for the restart, Joey ran around the cushion in his first bid for a top five. Pederson ran fifth on a pair of lap ten restarts, never falling again outside the front five. A few more cautions slowed the pace past the midway point, while Joey fought a pesky Mike Greseth, switching back-and-forth from running high to low to try and keep the position. Joey went on to win that battle and finish fourth. On Saturday, Tucker headed west for another run at Devils Lake Speedway. Looking for win number three at the one-third mile this season, Tucker kicked off the night with a heat win and a start on the outside of the second row in his fourth 20 lap main of the week. Tucker eventually took the lead from Stoney Kruk in the opening laps. Tucker continued to lead following a couple restarts around the midway point. Tucker pulled away from Kruk and Seth Klostreich late to score his 15th win of the season. Tucker and Kelsi capped off the weekend with return trips to Buffalo River Speedway, each driver winning their heat races early on in the evening. Starting seventh in the final 20 lapper of the weekend, Tucker remained just outside the top five until the lap before the midway point, passing Tyler Klugman for fifth. Tucker was running fourth on the final lap, but didn't make it back to the flagstand, and was credited with an eighth place result. Kelsi rounded out the weekend for the family, taking the initial green on the outside of the second row. Kelsi ran third early in the No. 93 Pro Land/Snow / Bad Boy Mowers Henchcraft in the 20 lap POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint feature. Stalking Jason Berg throughout the opening laps of the race, Kelsi took second before the former appeared to lose an engine a few laps later. Kelsi remained close to leader Matt Taves in traffic until the final caution with three laps remaining. Kelsi finished between the Taves duo, both of whom scored their first feature wins of their careers that weekend. This week, the Pederson trio will get another opportunity for the 'Pederson Sweep' as all three drivers are scheduled to be in action at River Cities Speedway on Friday night.
